Intakes

Broadly New Zealand has two intakes in February and July, however Institutes of Technology & Polytechnics (ITP) and Private institutes often have their own intakes. This offers students an incredible opportunity to find an intake suiting their needs.

Entry Requirements

For students seeking admission to Undergraduate Diplomas and Bachelor degrees need to score at least 60% in their 12th Standard, while students wanting to enroll on Masters programs are required to score at least 55% at their final year Bachelor examinations.

IELTS is an acceptable proof of the student’s ability to speak the English language and at the Bachelor level an overall IELTS score of Band 6.0 (with no band less than 5.5) is acceptable. Masters/Post Graduate level students are required to score Band 6.5 (with no band less than 6.0)

New Zealand offers high quality living conditions, most educational institutions will assist you to find accommodation, your options include:

Halls of Residence/Student Hostels

This is the complete package, students are fully catered for whilst they board with their meals, cleaning and laundry being part of the services offered. Boarding house residents also have access to the school facilities to assist with study and social activities. These are usually located on the campus or nearby, with single or twin rooms. There are also “Self-Catering” hostels with ensuite rooms and a common kitchen. Typical costs for halls of residence are approx NZ $850 per month.

Working for students and Dependents

All eligible students can work up to 20 hours in any given week during the term time, while students on a course of 12 months or more are allowed to work full time during their holidays too.

These options are generally available to the students who are enrolled on a full time course at Under graduate (level 7) or higher.

Dependents of Students who are enrolled on a course that is at Level 8 (or higher) can work full time without any conditions.

*the right to work for the student and dependents can vary on a case to case basis, students are required to check their specific cases before starting work.

Post study work options for students

Students who complete their courses in New Zealand can obtain a 12 months Graduate Job Search visa which enables them to start working in any job (not relevant to qualification also).

Graduates with long term Skilled Job offer that is relevant to their qualification, can apply for Graduate Work Experience visa for two years after their 12 months Graduate Job Search Visa is over.

In order to qualify for Work after studies the student need to fulfill the following Academic requirements.
• Obtain a qualification at Level 7 & above for at least 1 academic year or
• Two years’ qualification at Level 4‐6

Two qualifications at Level 4‐6 each required at least 1 academic year provided the second qualification is at the higher level (2 years’ study in New Zealand in total).

Students who have successfully completed in New Zealand a qualification that would qualify for Graduate Job Search Work Visa have to apply within 3 months of completion of their studies for a work visa.
